Snoutlas ("Snoutlas" or "the app") is operated by TECO LLC ("TECO," "we," "our," or "us"), which is the data controller for the personal data processed through the app. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
For any privacy question or request, contact support@snoutlas.com.
What Snoutlas does
Snoutlas helps you identify animals with AI analysis, save captures to a personal collection, take part in public discovery, and use community features such as profiles, trades, challenges, messages, reactions, ratings, reports, and blocks.
Information we collect
We collect and use the information needed to run Snoutlas and its core features.
- Account and profile data: email address, Sign in with Apple identifier, Snoutlas user ID, display name, username, avatar, bio, profile links, authentication records, and account settings.
- Uploaded content and capture data: animal photos and videos, capture metadata, notes, saved collection records, public or shared captures, species and AI results, card details, rarity context, scores, and stats.
- Location data: GPS coordinates, approximate location, location labels, and environmental context, collected when you scan animals or save captures with location features enabled.
- App activity: credits, purchases, subscription status and entitlement, collections, trades, challenges, messages, reactions, ratings and leaderboard activity, reports, blocks, moderation history, and support activity.
- Device and diagnostic data: device type, operating system, app version, crash logs, performance data, security events, and other diagnostics used to maintain and debug the app.
How we use information
We use information to:
- Create accounts, authenticate users, and support login.
- Analyze animal photos and videos through backend services to identify species.
- Save captures, collections, cards, and progress.
- Operate public discovery, community profiles, feeds, reactions, ratings, and shared captures.
- Enable messages, trades, challenges, blocks, and reports.
- Verify purchases, credits, subscriptions, and entitlements.
- Moderate content, prevent abuse, protect safety, investigate reports, enforce policies, provide support, and debug issues.
- Improve the reliability, security, and quality of the app.
Legal bases for processing (EEA / UK)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases: performance of our contract with you (to provide the app and your account); our legitimate interests (to keep the app secure, moderate content, prevent abuse, and improve the product); your consent (for optional permissions such as location and photo access, which you can withdraw at any time); and compliance with legal obligations.
Third-party processors
We use third-party service providers to operate Snoutlas. They process information only as needed to provide their services to us.
- Apple: Sign in with Apple, App Store purchases, subscriptions, receipts, and Apple ID subscription management.
- Google (Gemini): our primary AI provider for animal identification and related analysis. We may also route some requests to OpenAI. Analysis requests are sent through our backend rather than exposing provider access directly from the app.
- Supabase: authentication, database, storage, and backend infrastructure.
Public content and community disclosure
Some Snoutlas features are public or shared by design. Public captures, shared animal photos or videos, profile fields, usernames, avatars, bios, links, trade and challenge activity, reactions, ratings, and related community activity may be visible to other users.
Direct messages are intended for the participants in the conversation, but may be reviewed or retained when needed for reports, safety, abuse prevention, support, legal compliance, or service integrity.
International data transfers
TECO LLC is based in the Republic of Armenia, and our service providers may process data in Armenia and other countries. Where data is transferred out of the EEA or UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses, where required by law.
Your rights and choices
In the app, you can:
- Delete captures.
- Block users.
- Report content or users.
- Delete your account through Profile → Settings → Delete Account.
- Cancel subscriptions through your Apple ID settings.
- Decline optional device permissions, such as location or photo access, though some features may not work without them.
If you are in the EEA, the UK, or another region with similar laws, you also have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. To exercise these rights, contact support@snoutlas.com.
Data retention and deletion
We retain account, capture, purchase, community, diagnostic, and operational data while your account is active and for as long as needed to provide Snoutlas.
When you delete your account, we delete or deidentify your account data unless retention is required for legal compliance, fraud prevention, security, transaction records, dispute resolution, moderation records, or other legitimate operational needs. Some information may remain in backups or logs for a limited period before routine deletion. Public or shared content may be removed, deidentified, or disconnected from your account depending on the feature.
Children
Snoutlas is not intended for children under 13, and for users in the EEA or UK, not for children under 16 (or the minimum age set by local law) without parental consent. If you believe a child has provided personal data without appropriate consent, contact support@snoutlas.com and we will review the request.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy as Snoutlas changes. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page.
