Snoutlas ("Snoutlas" or "the app") is operated by TECO LLC, Yerevan, Republic of Armenia ("TECO," "we," "our," or "us"). TECO is the data controller for the personal data processed through the app. This policy explains exactly what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
For any privacy question or request, contact support@snoutlas.com.
What Snoutlas does
Snoutlas lets you photograph animals, identifies the species with AI, and turns each find into a collectible card. You can optionally publish finds to a shared feed, add friends, gift and trade cards, and see finds on a map.
Information we collect
We collect only what the app's features need to work:
- Account and profile data: your Sign in with Apple identifier, the name and email address Apple shares with us (this may be Apple's private relay address if you chose to hide your email), a Snoutlas user ID, your display name, @username, and avatar.
- Captures and collection data: the animal photos you take in the app, their thumbnails, AI recognition results (species, breed, description), AI-generated artwork versions of your photos, card details (rarity, dates, custom card names), and collection statistics.
- Location data (optional): if you allow location access, the coordinates of a find are stored so it appears on your own map. Precise coordinates are never shown to other users — friends and other players only ever see a general area name and an approximate zone (roughly 100 m for friends, 1 km for everyone else). You can use Snoutlas without location access.
- Community activity: the finds you choose to publish to the feed, likes, comments, your friends list, and gift/trade history.
- Purchases and in-app economy: your SnoutCoin balance and transaction history, boosts and frames you own, subscription status, and Apple transaction identifiers used to verify purchases with Apple. Payments are processed entirely by Apple — we never see your payment card or billing details.
- Sign-in security data: a Sign in with Apple token that we store solely so we can revoke the sign-in connection with Apple when you delete your account.
- Diagnostics: basic on-device logs used for debugging. Snoutlas contains no advertising, no third-party analytics, and no tracking SDKs, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
How we use information
- Create your account and sign you in.
- Analyze your animal photos through our backend to identify the species and, if you request it, to generate the artwork version of a card.
- Store your captures, cards, collection, and progress.
- Operate the feed, friends, gifting, trading, and map features you choose to use.
- Verify purchases with Apple and grant what you bought.
- Keep the service secure, prevent abuse and fraud, respond to reports, and provide support.
We do not sell your personal data and do not use it for third-party advertising.
Legal bases for processing (EEA / UK)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on: performance of our contract with you (providing the app and your account); our legitimate interests (keeping the app secure, preventing abuse, improving the product); your consent (optional permissions such as camera, location, and photo access — you can withdraw it in system settings at any time); and compliance with legal obligations.
Third-party processors
We use a small number of service providers. They process data only as needed to provide their services to us:
- Apple: Sign in with Apple, App Store payments and subscriptions, and server-side purchase verification.
- Google (Gemini): our primary AI provider for animal species recognition. Photos are sent through our backend solely to produce the recognition result.
- OpenAI: generation of the optional artwork version of your cards, and as an alternative recognition provider. Photos are sent through our backend solely to produce the result.
- Supabase: authentication, database, and photo storage — our backend infrastructure, hosted in the European Union (London region).
Public content
Publishing to the feed is your choice, made per find. A published post shows the photo (and its artwork version, if created), species, rarity, the general area name of the find, and your display name, @username, and avatar — to other Snoutlas users. Friends can additionally see your finds on the map as approximate zones. You can delete your posts at any time, and deleting a post removes it from the feed.
International data transfers
TECO LLC is based in the Republic of Armenia; our providers process data in the EU, the US, and other countries. Where data is transferred out of the EEA or UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses, where required by law.
Your rights and choices
In the app, you can:
- Choose per find whether to publish it to the feed, and delete your posts and comments.
- Release (delete) cards from your collection.
- Use the app without location access, and decline optional permissions (some features, like the map, won't work without them).
- Delete your account entirely: Profile → Settings → Delete account. This erases your profile, cards, photos, posts, friends, and balances, and revokes the Sign in with Apple connection.
- Manage or cancel the subscription in your Apple ID settings.
If you are in the EEA, the UK, or another region with similar laws, you also have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. To exercise these rights, contact support@snoutlas.com.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, your profile, photos, cards, posts, and balances are deleted; we retain only what the law requires us to keep (for example, purchase records for tax and accounting purposes) and minimal records needed for security and fraud prevention. Residual copies may persist in encrypted backups for a limited period before routine deletion.
Children
Snoutlas is not directed at children under 13, and for users in the EEA or UK, not at children under 16 (or the minimum age set by local law) without parental consent. If you believe a child has provided personal data without appropriate consent, contact support@snoutlas.com and we will delete it.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy as Snoutlas changes. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page; for material changes we will additionally notify you in the app.
